MSSN Kano Holds Successful 2024 State Islamic Vacation Course (SIVC)

Kano, Nigeria – August 30, 2024 — The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Kano State Area Unit (KNAU), successfully concluded its 2024 State Islamic Vacation Course (SIVC) — a week-long spiritual and educational camp designed to build the character, knowledge, and leadership capacity of young Muslim students.

Held from Thursday, 22nd August to Wednesday, 28th August 2024 (18th – 24th Safar 1446 AH) at First Ladies College, Mariri, Kumbotso LGA, Kano State, the program brought together over 604 participants, including students from various secondary and tertiary institutions, 69 officials, and 13 instructors from across the state.

Themed “Harsashin Ginin Rayuwa Mai Inganchi, Samartaka Zuwa Dattijantaka”, with a subtheme “Cigaban Fasahasar Sadarwa da Kirkire-kirkire da yadda Matashi Musulmi ya Kamata ya Mu’amalaceta”, the course aimed to reawaken the youth’s consciousness towards building purposeful and value-driven lives based on Islamic teachings.

Activities and Highlights

Throughout the week, participants engaged in a series of inspiring activities, including:

Lectures and Qur’an recitations by respected scholars and instructors.

Spiritual and moral guidance sessions focusing on Islamic discipline and self-development.

Entrepreneurship and vocational training, preparing youths for self-reliance.

Career guidance and mentorship, encouraging educational excellence.

Community service and moral reorientation, instilling responsibility and leadership values.

Evening tafsir sessions and interactive group discussions created a spiritually charged atmosphere, while daily reflections helped participants internalize lessons learned throughout the camp.

Words from the Leadership

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Amir of MSSN Kano Area Unit, Dr. Abubakar Hassan Inuwa, expressed gratitude to Allah for the success of the event and commended the dedication of all committees, instructors, and volunteers who made the program a reality.

He emphasized that the SIVC remains a vital platform for nurturing future leaders grounded in Islamic values, moral integrity, and intellectual excellence.

“This program is not just about learning — it’s about transformation. Our goal is to raise disciplined, God-fearing youths who will serve as positive change agents in society,” he said.

Participants’ Reflections

Participants described the camp as a life-changing experience. Many noted that the teachings on leadership, time management, and Islamic ethics deepened their faith and helped them understand how to balance education with Islamic obligations.

A Call for Continuous Support

The Amir also called on government bodies, philanthropists, and well-meaning individuals to support MSSN in sustaining its da’wah and youth development programs, noting that financial challenges remain one of the major obstacles to expanding the Society’s impact.

The 2024 SIVC ended with a heartfelt closing prayer, renewed commitments from participants, and words of appreciation from the organizing committee.
